I tend to create some personal goals each year but somehow I haven’t written anything down last year. 2024 was definitely a great year but I think I might have achieved more if I also created some goals for myself. Therefore, I sat down to think of some things I would like to accomplish during the new year.

Financial Goals
Financial goals are probably the easiest to track as they are so concrete. They should help me to stay on track to make sure that we are in a better position financially than before every year. This is what I came up with for 2025:
- Invest at least €5000. During 2024, we only invested €4250 to various investment accounts (excluding our pension plans and our daughter’s account) and I would like to make the amount bigger this year. This means that we should invest at least €417 monthly to reach the goal. I only had one such month in 2024, so this will be a stretch but everything is in our hands.
- Earn €500 in passive income. Last year I had a goal to earn €365 and I was not able to reach it. This year, I am increasing the target to €500 which means that we should earn slightly more than €40 monthly on average in order to reach the goal.
- Invest at least €1000 to my daughter’s fund. A simple goal to resume investments to a fund which I am keeping for our daughter. The younger we start, the better the results.
Fitness/Wellness Goals
During 2024 I returned to triathlon and participated in 4 Olympic distance races. I am planning to continue this journey and plan to add some goals related to this.
- Run at least 1200km. This is just a simple goal to run a little bit more than last year. During 2024, I ran ~1050km. If I can consistently run at least 100km/month, I should be able to reach this goal in 2025.
- Cycle at least 4000km. Similar to previous goal, I will try to cycle more compared to last year, when I logged ~2500km. Cycling is my weakest discipline in triathlon, so naturally I want to improve here. Also, cycling is taking most of the time in triathlon events, so it’s especially important if I want to achieve more in this sport.
- Finish Lithuanian Triathlon cup in Top 20 of my age group. Last year, I participated in 4 stages and unfortunately I can no longer find my final position in my age group, but I know that it was outside Top 20 for sure. Let’s see if I can improve this year with my results.
- Finish Ironman 70.3 distance triathlon in less than 5:39:00. I participated in Ironman 70.3 distance (aka Half-Ironman) races 3 times so far, but the last one happened back in 2018. Then I reached my best result, which was 5:39:43. I was super happy to find out that we will have a race of this distance in Lithuania this year (although not under Ironman brand). The goal is to beat my record, so we’ll see how it goes.
- Find time for meditation every day. Last year, I started doing some short meditations daily in Headspace app. Currently, I am on a 74-day streak and I hope to keep the streak going. Even though it takes ~10 minutes, I always found it difficult to find time for meditation. I am happy that I now have this habit and I’m planning to continue doing this during 2025.
Personal Development Goals
- Read 20 books. 2024 was not a great year in terms of reading. I only managed to read 11 books. Actually, it could be that I didn’t spend less time reading. The problem is that it was mainly not books that I was reading. I have “Wall Street Journal” and “Verslo Žinios” subscriptions and it probably took most of my reading time. I will try to find some balance and incorporate more books into my reading life in 2025.
- Earn a new IT certification. Since I am working in IT, you need to keep learning to stay relevant in the industry. To keep me on track and show something on my resume, I added a goal to earn at least one new IT certification in 2025.
Family Goals
- Attend at least 10 events with wife (music concerts, theatre events etc.). During 2024 I realized that seeing some live music of our favorite artists were probably the most enjoyable moments. It really brings you to a different place mentally and I will try to find more time for such experiences with my wife during the new year.
- Cook at least 4 meals a week. Just a simple family goal to cook more and make life easier for my wife. We are usually only cooking Dinner during working days, as we eat breakfast and lunch at work (or in kindergarten in case of our daughter). This means that I should cook at least 2 dinners during work days and a couple dishes in weekends. I am not planning to track this goal intensely, but just to have a feeling if I am doing it constantly or not.
- Have a vacation abroad. Last year we had a road trip to Croatia which was interesting but quite intense. This year, we chose to have a more relaxing vacation and already reserved a vacation in the Greek island of Crete. It is not going to be a cheap vacation, so my financial goals will be more challenging, but I think it is going to be worth it.
Summary
There you have it – 13 goals for 2025. Some of them are more realistic than others and it will be interesting to see how many of the goals I am able to cross off as successful when the year ends.
Are you setting any goals for the year? Are you using some different approach instead? I would love to read your comments! 🙂
My goal for this year is to reach 10000 eur annual dividends after taxes and buy one more apartment for investment for our family
Wow, that’s a nice goal. My portfolio only crossed the €10k mark and you already have a goal to receive this amount in dividends after taxes. Big respect for your progress! 🙂
What is the size of your portfolio, if it’s not a secret?
In individual stock portfolio is about 230-240k
Impressive! Hopefully, we will get there as well one day 🙂
