2025 Goals Review

Now that 2025 is behind us, it’s time to look back and see how many of the goals I set at the beginning of the year I actually managed to achieve.

Overall, I’m happy with how the year turned out. Some areas went really well, others not so much—but that’s exactly why I like setting and reviewing goals every year.

Let’s break it down.

Financial Goals 💸

Goal #1: Invest at least €5,000

Result: €5,620 invested

I managed to invest €5,620 throughout the year. The second half of the year was a bit slower, but front-loading investments early on helped me stay ahead and allowed some flexibility later.

Status: ✅ Success

Goal #2: Earn €500 in passive income

Result: €585.60

My portfolio generated €585.60 in passive income during the year. I officially reached the goal in November, and December was a nice bonus on top.

Status: ✅ Success

Goal #3: Contribute at least €1000 to my daughter’s fund

Result: €1,020

I was lagging behind for most of the year, but I finished strong with a €700 contribution in December to reach the goal.

Status: ✅ Success

Fitness & Wellness Goals 🏃‍♂️🚴‍♂️

Goal #4: Run at least 1,200 km

Result: 1,336 km

I comfortably beat this goal and felt good about my consistency throughout the year.

Status: ✅ Success

Goal #5: Cycle at least 4,000 km

Result: 5,378 km

Most of my cycling was done indoors on the Wattbike, which slightly inflates the numbers—but the data is the data. I’m especially proud of this one, as I feel cycling improved the most among the triathlon disciplines this year.

Status: ✅ Success

Goal #6: Finish Lithuanian Triathlon Cup in Top 20 (age group)

Result: 81st place

Due to some organizational issues, I unexpectedly had to skip one of the stages. In the end, I finished far from my target, so this one clearly didn’t work out.

Status: ❌ Failed

Goal #7: Finish Ironman 70.3 distance triathlon in under 5:39:00

Result: 6:13:56

I raced “Iron Trakai,” and it was a bit of a disaster. I missed a turn on the bike course and ended up cycling about 12 km extra. Even without that mistake, I probably still wouldn’t have hit the target time. This ended up being my slowest 70.3 race ever—but lessons were learned 😄

Status: ❌ Failed

Goal #8: Meditate daily

Result: ~85% consistency

There were periods where I didn’t find time to meditate daily, so I can’t call this a full success. Still, meditating on roughly 85% of days feels like meaningful progress.

Status: ⚠️ Partial success

Personal Development 📚

Goal #9: Read 20 books

Result: 20 books

I finished exactly 20 books before the year ended:

  • 10 physical books
  • 6 audiobooks
  • 4 Kindle books
  • 8 nonfiction, 12 fiction
  • Average length: ~390 pages

Favorites of the year:

  1. Chip War – Chris Miller
  2. Project Hail Mary – Andy Weir
  3. The Hero of Ages – Brandon Sanderson

Status: ✅ Success

Goal #10: Earn a new IT certification

Result: Not completed

I didn’t find the time to earn a new certification this year. No excuses here—I need to step up in this area.

Status: ❌ Failed

Family Goals ❤️

Goal #11: Attend 10 events with my wife

Result: More than 10 events

We attended plenty of events together, including concerts, musicals, festivals, and stand-up comedy. Listing them all almost feels excessive—but this year was an absolute blast.

Status: ✅ Success

Goal #12: Cook 4 meals a week

Result: Not consistently achieved

I didn’t officially track this, but it’s fair to say I failed. I usually cooked one or two meals per week, while my wife handled most of it. This is an area where I definitely need to improve and find better strategies.

Status: ❌ Failed

Goal #13: Take a vacation abroad

Result: Multiple trips

We traveled a lot this year:

  • Crete in June
  • Road trip to Poland (Krakow, Zakopane, Warsaw) in August
  • Two short trips to London (one with our daughter) in March and November

A great year for travel.

Status: ✅ Success

Final Summary

Out of 13 goals:

  • 8 were successful
  • 4 were failed
  • 1 was a partial success

All things considered, 2025 was a pretty good year. There are clear areas for improvement, but I’m genuinely proud of the progress I made. Now it’s time to reflect, learn from the misses, and finalize my goals for 2026.

How was your 2025? Did you reach your goals? Have you already set new ones for this year?

As always, thanks for reading! 😊
