Now that the first quarter of 2025 is behind us, I decided to sit down, reflect, and be brutally honest about my progress toward the goals I set at the beginning of the year. Overall, I am pretty happy with the progress, but there are some areas where I could improve.
Financial 💸
- Goal #1: Invest at least €5000.
- Progress: I’ve contributed €1320 so far – 26% of the goal. Feels pretty good!
- Status: ✅ On Track
- Goal #2: Earn €500 in passive income
- Progress: We’ve received €96.17 so far, which is 19% of the target. A bit behind, but I’m hopeful we can catch up as the year goes on.
- Status: ⚠️ At Risk
- Goal #3: Contribute at least €1000 to my daughter’s fund
- Progress: €200 contributed so far (20%). Definitely a bit behind – I need to catch up in Q2.
- Status: ⚠️ At Risk
Fitness & Wellness Goals 🏃♂️🚴♂️
- Goal #4: Run at least 1200km
- Progress: No injuries, no serious illnesses so far, and 350km under my belt already. That’s about 29% done!
- Status: ✅ On Track
- Goal #5: Cycle at least 4000km
- Progress: Most of my cycling has been indoors on the Wattbike, which kind of inflates the numbers. But the data says it’s 1416km so far, which is well on track to reach the goal (35%).
- Status: ✅ On Track
- Goal #6: Finish Lithuanian Triathlon Cup in Top 20 (age group)
- Progress: The season hasn’t kicked off yet, so nothing to report here.
- Status: ⏳ Not Started
- Goal #7: Finish Ironman 70.3 triathlon in under 5:39:00
- Progress: Training is going strong, but the race isn’t until September.
- Status: ⏳ Not Started
- Goal #8: Meditate daily
- Progress: I’ve missed just one day so far. I’m using Headspace app and spend 5-10 minutes a day. I made it into a daily habit quite easily.
- Status: ✅ On Track
Personal Development 📚💻
- Goal #9: Read 20 books
- Progress: I’ve finished 4 books so far — about 20% of the goal. I’m reading pretty much every night, but it’s slow progress. Maybe too many news articles and podcasts stealing my attention. Might need to sneak in some audiobooks!
- Status: ⚠️ At Risk
- Goal #10: Earn a new IT certification
- Progress: Still figuring out which certification to tackle. Thinking about TOGAF… but honestly, it’s really boring. 😅 I know it would help my career though, so it’s probably worth it.
- Status: ⚠️ At Risk
Family Goals ❤️
- Goal #11: Attend 10 events with my wife
- Progress: We’ve made it to two awesome events so far: a Lilas & Innomine concert (after their 5-year break!) and Hamilton musical in London’s West End (highly, highly recommend). More concerts already booked, so I think we’ll catch up.
- Status: ⚠️ At Risk
- Goal #12: Cook 4 meals a week
- Progress: Not officially tracking this one, but I’m cooking multiple times a week — at least 2 dinners during weekdays and a breakfast or lunch on weekends. Not perfect, but solid enough.
- Status: ✅ On Track
- Goal #13: Take a vacation abroad
- Progress: A trip to Crete is booked for June. In addition, we are planning a road trip to Poland in August.
- Status: ✅ On Track
Summary 📊
Out of 13 goals, here’s the progress so far:
- ✅ 6 goals On Track
- ⚠️ 5 goals At Risk
- ⏳ 2 goals Too Early to Tell
Overall, I’m feeling good about where things are heading. No major disasters yet – just a few goals where I need to try a little harder. Some of my triathlon-related goals are super ambitious, but I guess that’s kind of the point.
It’s motivating to look back after a few months and see the progress, even though it’s not perfect. I can see where I should focus next.
