Just like that, the first month of 2025 is behind us. It means that it’s time to see how much passive income my portfolio generated. In this review I will cover all the sources of passive income, changes to previous years and new investments. Let’s look at the numbers.
Dividend Income
As always, I am starting with dividend income. 2 companies paid dividend to me in January:

I’m happy to see that I received my first dividend form Mondelez, which was added to my portfolio in October 2024. This was followed by the quarterly dividend from W.P.Carey, which is in my portfolio for much longer time.
Let’s see how dividend income compares to actual expenses our family had in related categories:
- $4.79 from Mondelez (MDLZ) would cover 4.0% of our expenses on Sweets in the last 3 months;
- $8.32 from W.P.Carey (WPC) would cover 0.2% of our Mortgage payments for the last 3 months.
The amounts are still small, but I have patience and am sure that the percentage will grow bigger as the time goes by.
Year-on-Year Comparison
I decided to add a new section in my reviews – comparison of dividends year-on-year:

I like to see an increase of almost 62%. This was mainly due to a new company in my portfolio paying dividend in January. But a dividend raise from W.P.Carey also added a bit. I can see that their dividend was raised by 2.4% compared to last year, so that also contributed slightly to the growth.
Other Passive Income
Other sources of income also delivered some passive income to us during January:
- €6.22 in interest from P2P lending
- €6.02 from Real Estate Corwdfunding
- €2.24 interest from a partial Bond I own
- €2.91 from Money Market Funds
- €0.40 from Rental Income Crowdfunding
Passive Income Summary
After adding it all up, I received €30.34 from passive income in January:

Here’s a better visualization with different categories:

And here’s a comparison year-over-year:

I love to see passive income steadily climbing each year.
Investments and Portfolio Contributions
During January, I added €500 to my investment accounts.
I used most of this money and previous savings to add an additional company to our portfolio.
On the 22nd of January, I bought 9 shares or Prologis (PLD) at $115.7/share for a total of $1043.30 (including commissions).
This purchase adds $29.37 to my net annual dividend income.
You can read more about the purchase in this post.
Summary
January was a great month. We received passive income from 6 different sources, and that’s a result of diversification.
I have a goal to receive €500 in passive income during 2025. €30.34 received in January is 6% of the goal. With one month gone, I am behind schedule but this is expected. I will have some bigger months as the year progresses and I plan to add new positions to my portfolio to increase the passive income.
How was your month? Did you start the year strong? I would love to read your comments.
